Wasp World Records – Part 1

Want to know what the world’s largest recorded wasp nest was?

It was located on a farm in New Zealand in 1963. Made from a papier mache like material from wood shavings and saliva, the nest was so large and heavy that it had fallen from a tree onto the ground where it split into two.

It measured a mighty 12 foot and 2 inches in length and 5.25 feet in diameter and a whopping 18 foot in circumference!

It was likely constructed by the Vespula germanica, more commonly known as the German wasp.
